The SymplyPRO XTL 40 LTO-9 combines 40 active cartridge slots in a 3U base module with 1 × Half-Height, 2 × Half-Height or 1 × Full-Height LTO-9, depending on selected configuration. The LTO-9 family offers both Half-Height and Full-Height drive choices, plus one- or two-drive iSCSI configurations. It is aimed at organisations that need genuine tape automation today but also want room to increase media capacity and drive throughput without replacing the library platform.
Each LTO-9 cartridge provides 18TB Native / 45TB Compressed; across the base module this gives 720TB Native / 1.8PB Compressed. Drive performance is Up to 300MB/s native (HH) or 400MB/s native (FH). The XTL 40 architecture can expand using Base Module + up to 15 Expansion Modules, taking the system to 640 slots. 11.52PB native at 640 slots is available when fully populated with the stated generation/media type.
LTO-9 is unusual in this range because drive form factor materially affects performance: Half-Height mechanisms provide up to 300MB/s native, while Full-Height mechanisms provide up to 400MB/s native. Select the configuration that matches the required host interface and throughput rather than treating all LTO-9 variants as equivalent.
Operations are designed around unattended use and serviceability. 2 removable magazines per module, 5 per module import/export mail slots per module, integrated barcode reading, 4-inch front-panel display, password-protected browser management, email/SNMP alerts, event logs, inventory/health reporting and remote or USB firmware updates are all part of the platform. The library and each tape drive are presented through separate LUNs, so the host HBA/initiator must support multiple-LUN discovery.
AES-256 hardware encryption, LTO WORM and removable magazines support regulated retention and physically offline copies. LTFS is supported with compatible host software, while Symply lists compatibility with leading LTO applications including Veeam Backup & Replication, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Qstar, Arcserve, Retrospect, Bacula, Archiware P5, Hedge Canister, Tiger Bridge, YoYotta and XenData. Choose XTL 40 when you need a modular library that starts at 40 slots but can scale deeply within the rack without moving to the larger 6U XTL 80 chassis.

Symply Delivery Information
Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Symply Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
