The Sonnet Echo III Rackmount Thunderbolt 5 Expansion System (ECHO-3R-T5) is a three-slot professional PCIe expansion chassis for Thunderbolt-equipped Mac, Windows and Linux computers.
The Echo III architecture supports three full-height, full-length, single-width cards, or one double-width card plus one single-width card. The slot layout provides x8/x8, x16/x8 and x8/x4 mechanical/electrical PCIe 3.1 connectivity.
The Thunderbolt 5 configuration provides two Thunderbolt ports and up to 3500 MB/s aggregate PCIe bandwidth. Because the three slots use a PCIe bridge, installed cards share the available host bandwidth.
A universal 400W internal power supply supports installed cards, while a 6-pin auxiliary connection can provide up to 75W of supplemental PCIe power for compatible hardware.
Echo III includes an HDX compatibility mode for professional Pro Tools workflows. When HDX compatibility mode is selected, the PCIe slots operate in PCIe 2.0 mode.
Dual temperature-controlled Noctua fans are designed for quiet operation at approximately 17 dBA, making the chassis suitable for recording, broadcast and other noise-sensitive environments.
The 19-inch 2U steel chassis is 16.5 inches deep and includes rack extension rails, making it appropriate for mobile racks, machine rooms, studio installations and production carts.
