The Sonnet Breakaway Box 850 T5 (GPU-850T5) is a high-performance Thunderbolt 5 external GPU enclosure designed primarily for Windows 11 laptops and small-form-factor computers that need substantially more graphics, rendering or AI processing power.
On compatible Thunderbolt 5 Windows systems, the enclosure provides an 80Gbps Thunderbolt connection and PCIe 4.0 bandwidth to the installed GPU. It is also compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and GPU-capable USB4 Windows systems at the bandwidth supported by those hosts.
The chassis supports compatible triple-width NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50, 40 and 30 Series cards and AMD Radeon RX 9000, 7000 and 6000 Series cards, with maximum GPU dimensions of 345 × 155 × 70mm.
A universal 850W internal power supply is designed for high-performance graphics cards, with support for cards using three 8-pin power connections or one 16-pin 12VHPWR connection where compatible.
Alongside the GPU slot, Breakaway Box 850 T5 adds a downstream Thunderbolt port, three USB-A 10Gbps ports and a 5GbE RJ45 network connection. The host Thunderbolt port can provide up to 100W charging to a compatible laptop.
Sonnet's current specifications list experimental GPU support for Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs for AI developers. This should not be treated as conventional macOS eGPU support; customers intending to use this feature should follow Sonnet's current setup and compatibility guidance.
A large variable-speed, temperature-controlled fan cools the installed card while keeping acoustic noise suitable for professional creative environments.

Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Sonnet Technology Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between 9 am and 6 pm.
