The SymplyPRO 1U – LTO-7 is a professional dual-bay rackmount tape system supplied with one half-height LTO-7 drive and a choice of SAS, Thunderbolt 3 / SAS or dual 10GbE iSCSI connectivity. The rugged 1RU all-metal chassis is designed for long-term backup and archive workflows, with SymplyCABLELESS™ technology making drive servicing and future expansion straightforward.
Each LTO-7 drive provides 6TB native / 15TB compressed capacity per cartridge with native transfer performance up to 300MB/s. LTFS support, WORM media compatibility and AES-256 hardware encryption support secure, standards-based archive workflows across macOS, Windows and Linux environments.
The SymplyPRO 1U – LTO-7 combines a rack-efficient 1RU enclosure with a single half-height LTO-7 tape drive and three selectable host-interface options. It is designed for professional backup, archive and media workflows that need removable offline storage without committing to a single connectivity platform.
The chassis provides two internal drive positions and uses SymplyCABLELESS™ technology, allowing the supplied drive to be serviced quickly and a second compatible LTO drive to be added later without replacing the complete system.
The 6Gb SAS configuration connects through SFF-8088. The Thunderbolt configuration provides dual Thunderbolt 3 ports together with 12Gb SAS host and expansion connectivity through SFF-8644. The Ethernet configuration presents the tape system over dual 10GbE SFP+ iSCSI and also provides SFF-8644 SAS expansion connectivity. This single parent product therefore covers workstation, direct-attached and network-attached archive workflows.
Each fitted LTO-7 half-height mechanism supports 6TB native capacity per cartridge, or 15TB compressed using the standard 2.5:1 assumption, with native transfer performance up to 300MB/s. Real-world compression depends on the data being written, so native figures are the appropriate basis for archive planning.
The 1U enclosure is supplied with one LTO-7 drive but contains two internal drive positions. SymplyCABLELESS™ removes conventional internal drive cabling, simplifying maintenance and allowing a compatible second drive to be fitted using a dedicated Symply drive upgrade module.
LTFS support allows tape media to be accessed through familiar file-based workflows. WORM support provides write-once retention where required, while AES-256 hardware encryption supports secure offline backup and archive strategies.
The metal-alloy 1RU chassis measures approximately 43.5 × 48.2 × 4.4cm and uses an internal 350W auto-ranging power supply with front-to-back cooling. A rack kit, data cartridge, cleaning cartridge, appropriate interface cabling and power cable are supplied according to the selected configuration.
SymplyPRO rackmount systems are designed for mixed macOS, Windows and Linux environments and are compatible with LTFS and established backup/archive software. The system carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty.

Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Symply Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
