SymplyPRO XTL 40 – LTO-7 Fibre Channel Tape Library

The SymplyPRO XTL 40 LTO-7 8Gb Fibre Channel edition combines a 40-slot 3U base module with one fitted half-height LTO-7 drive and native 8Gb Fibre Channel (LC). It provides a modular tape platform for scheduled backups, long-term archive storage and offline data retention.

LTO-7 capacity and performance

Each LTO-7 cartridge holds 6TB native / up to 15TB compressed. A fully loaded 40-slot base module accommodates 240TB native / up to 600TB compressed, using a 2.5:1 compression assumption. The installed half-height LTO-7 drive supports up to 300MB/s native throughput.

40-slot modular library architecture

The XTL 40 starts with a 3U base module that supports up to three half-height or one full-height drive. Up to 15 further 3U modules can be added, giving a maximum of 640 cartridge slots. Each module has two removable magazines and five import/export mail slots for convenient cartridge handling.

Automated media management

An integrated barcode reader and front display support routine library operations. Password-protected browser administration provides library monitoring, cartridge movement, inventory and diagnostics, while email/SNMP alerts and firmware management help maintain the installation.

Host integration and data protection

This configuration connects natively via 8Gb Fibre Channel (LC), suitable for compatible Fibre Channel host infrastructure. The tape drive and library robotics are presented to the host on separate LUNs (LUN 0 and LUN 1), so compatible host hardware and backup or archive software must support multiple-LUN discovery. Hardware AES-256 encryption, compatible WORM media and LTFS-capable host software support secure retention and file-based tape workflows.
