The SymplyPRO LTO-7 Half-Height Thunderbolt 3 / SAS tape drive is a professional desktop LTO tape unit that connects directly to a workstation for reliable, long-term backup and archive.
Built for media, enterprise and SMB workflows, this single-drive desktop system combines Thunderbolt™ 3 convenience with 12Gb SAS flexibility, LTFS interoperability, and hardware security features required for compliance and offline protection.
This model ships with two Thunderbolt™ 3 host ports (with SymplyLOCK™ cable locking and daisy-chaining) and exposes SAS Host and SAS Expansion connectivity via a Thunderbolt bridge. One Thunderbolt port provides up to 60W of device charging.
The unit is a half-height single-drive desktop configuration with dimensions 27.5 x 21.1 x 9.2 cm (11 x 8.5 x 3.5 in) and a weight of 4.0 kg (8.8 lb), suitable for studio and office installs.
The LTO-7 half-height drive delivers up to 300 MB/s native throughput and supports native cartridge capacity of 6 TB (15 TB compressed, assumes 2.5:1 compression).
The drive supports Linear Tape File System (LTFS) for mountable tape volumes and is compatible with leading archive and backup applications; on macOS, SymplyATOM™ provides simplified tape operations and firmware updates.
Hardware AES-256 encryption and LTO WORM media support enable non-erasable, non-rewritable retention. The air-gapped nature of removable tape supports the 3-2-1-1-0 offline copy practice for ransomware resilience. The product carries CE, UKCA, FCC Class A and RoHS markings.
Half-height drives are specified at 250,000 MTBF hours @ 100% duty cycle with a Mean Swaps Before Failure (MSBF) of 100,000 and load/unload cycles of 80,000 for long-term archival use.
Recommended operating temperatures for LTO-7 are 16 to 25 °C (61 to 77 °F) with 20 to 50% non-condensing relative humidity; allowable ranges and non-operating and shipping conditions are provided for installation and transport planning.
Each unit ships with a 2m Thunderbolt cable, a data cartridge and a cleaning cartridge, plus SymplyLOCK for cable locking. Physical security is aided by a Kensington T-Bar™ lock slot, and the product is covered by a 3-Year Advanced Replacement warranty (with an optional +2-Year extension).

Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Symply Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
