The Sonnet Allegro Pro USB-C 8-Port PCIe Card, part number USB3C-8PM-E, is a high-density USB expansion card designed for professional systems that need many fast USB-C connections from a single PCIe slot.
Its architecture uses four independent USB controllers behind a PCIe bridge, with two USB-C ports assigned to each controller for strong concurrent performance across multiple attached devices.
All eight external USB-C ports support USB 3.2 Gen 2 operation at up to 10Gbps and maintain compatibility with USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.1, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices.
Four ASMedia 3142 controllers each manage a pair of USB-C ports. This distributed architecture helps prevent a single USB controller from becoming the bottleneck when several high-speed devices are active at the same time.
When installed in a host with sufficient PCIe bandwidth, the card is designed to provide full 10Gbps-class connectivity through each port concurrently, making it particularly suitable for multi-drive media and production workflows.
The full-height card uses a PCI Express 3.0 x8 electrical interface and an x16 mechanical edge connector. The host therefore requires an available compatible x16-length PCIe slot.
Each USB-C port advertises up to 1.5A, providing up to 7.5W for compatible bus-powered storage and other USB peripherals.
UASP is supported for compatible storage devices and all ports support hot-pluggable and hot-swappable USB peripherals. Thunderbolt-only peripherals are not supported.
