The Sonnet Allegro USB-C 4-Port PCIe Card is a professional USB expansion card designed to add four high-speed USB-C ports to computers and Thunderbolt PCIe expansion systems.
All four ports support USB 3.2 Gen 2 signalling up to 10Gbps for fast external storage, hubs and other USB-IF compliant peripherals.
Two onboard USB 3.2 Gen 2 controllers provide 20Gbps combined controller throughput. Sonnet specifies up to 800MB/s with a suitable single USB 3.2 Gen 2 SSD RAID device, up to 660MB/s each with two suitable drives transferring simultaneously, and around 300MB/s per drive with four suitable drives active simultaneously.
Each port has independent power regulation and resettable overcurrent protection to reduce the risk of one connected device causing another to disconnect.
Each USB-C port can provide up to 7.5W for compatible bus-powered devices. The card draws the power it needs from the PCIe slot, so no separate auxiliary power lead is required.
The full-height card uses a PCI Express 2.0 x4 interface and installs in a PCIe x4 mechanical slot or larger. It is also compatible with supported Thunderbolt expansion systems that provide a suitable PCIe slot.
