SymplyPRO LTO-8 HH SAS Tape Drive – Product Overview

The SymplyLTO Desktop SAS LTO-8 Tape Drive represents a significant advancement in professional data backup and archiving technology, offering a perfect balance of performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Designed specifically with data-intensive industries in mind, this half-height LTO-8 drive provides 12TB of native storage capacity (expandable to 30TB with compression) while delivering impressive transfer speeds of up to 300MB/s.

Housed in a sleek space grey metal alloy enclosure, the drive combines robust construction with compact desktop dimensions (26.3 x 21.1 x 6.3 cm), making it ideal for environments where space is at a premium.

Advanced Connectivity Options

The SymplyLTO Desktop features a 6Gb/s SAS SFF-8088 interface, ensuring high-speed data transfers and compatibility with a wide range of professional workstations and servers.

This connectivity option provides the reliability and performance necessary for handling large media files, database backups, and other data-intensive applications.

Superior Design and Engineering

Unlike many repurposed IT systems or design-compromised LTO products, the SymplyLTO Desktop was engineered from the ground up with professional users in mind.

The unit incorporates a premium Noctua fan and high-quality power supply, ensuring whisper-quiet operation and years of trouble-free service.

The internal auto-switching power supply (110-240V) provides versatility for global deployment, while typical power consumption is approximately 40W.

LTFS Compatibility

The drive fully supports the Linear Tape File System (LTFS), allowing for simple drag-and-drop file operations similar to conventional hard drives.

This functionality can reduce or eliminate the need for specialized backup or archive software, streamlining workflows and making data interchange more intuitive.

Users can easily move data between LTO cartridges or copy files to and from other storage devices such as HDDs or SSDs.

Enhanced Security Features

Data security is paramount in today's digital landscape, and the SymplyLTO Desktop delivers with support for AES 256-bit encryption.

The drive is also compatible with WORM (Write Once Read Many) media, providing tamper-proof storage for compliance and legal requirements.

Physical security is addressed with a Kensington lock slot, protecting your valuable hardware investment.

Comprehensive Software Solution

Every SymplyLTO Desktop comes with SymplyATOM (Advanced Tape Operations and Management) software, making operation and maintenance straightforward even for users new to tape storage.

The drive is also certified for use with popular backup and archive utilities for macOS and Windows, including YoYotta LTFS, Hedge Canister, XenData, Tiger Technology Bridge, Retrospect, and Archiware P5.

Complete Package

The SymplyLTO Desktop SAS LTO-8 Tape Drive ships as a complete solution, including one data cartridge, one cleaning cartridge, and a 2m SAS cable.

A local power cable and the SymplyATOM software round out the package, providing everything needed to begin backing up and archiving data immediately.

The system comes with a standard 3-year warranty, with an optional extension available to 5 years for additional peace of mind.
