The Sonnet Echo II DV T5 Rackmount Thunderbolt 5 Expansion System (ECHO-2RDV-T5) is a two-slot, dual-interface PCIe expansion platform for professional video, audio, storage and networking workflows that need high bandwidth from two cards simultaneously.
The system provides two x16 mechanical, x4 electrical PCIe 4.0 slots for full-length, full-height, single-width cards. Each slot is connected to its own Thunderbolt 5 interface.
Four Thunderbolt ports are provided in total — two per interface. With two host connections that provide independent Thunderbolt 5 PCIe bandwidth, Sonnet specifies up to 6800 MB/s of PCIe bandwidth to each slot simultaneously. Each secondary port can also connect compatible downstream Thunderbolt, USB and display devices and provide up to 15W bus power.
A universal 400W power supply supports installed cards. Two internal 6-pin auxiliary PCIe power connections can each provide up to 75W for compatible cards requiring supplemental power.
Dual temperature-controlled Noctua fans are rated at approximately 17dBA, helping the system remain suitable for recording, broadcast and other noise-sensitive environments.
The steel rackmount enclosure is 19 inches wide, 2U high and 16.5 inches deep. Extension rails for 16–24-inch rack depths are included, making the system suitable for studio racks, production carts and machine rooms.
Sonnet supports current Mac, Windows and Linux systems with suitable Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 connectivity, with maximum dual-interface performance dependent on the host architecture and independent PCIe bandwidth.
