The Quantum LTO-8 Data Cartridge (MR-L8MQN-01) is a standard rewritable LTO-8 Ultrium cartridge designed for high-capacity backup, long-term archive and offline data retention.
LTO-8 provides 12 TB native capacity and up to 30 TB compressed capacity, based on 2.5:1 compression.
MR-L8MQN-01 is rewritable media. Quantum's LTO-8 WORM cartridge is a separate product, MR-L8MQN-02, for Write Once, Read Many workflows.
AES-256 encryption is a capability of compatible LTO-8 drives. When encryption is enabled in a supported drive and backup application, data written to this cartridge can be hardware-encrypted; the cartridge itself is not an encryption device.
The cartridge uses 960 m (3,150 ft) of tape and the standard 12.65 mm Ultrium tape width. The format is intended for compatible stand-alone drives and automated tape-library environments.
Quantum LTO media supports media-integrity analysis and long-term archival workflows. Quantum specifies a recommended environment of 16 to 25 °C and 20 to 50% relative humidity for LTO-8 media.
Protect cartridges from shock, moisture, magnetic fields and contamination, store them vertically in protective cases, and allow them to acclimatise before use after significant environmental changes.
