The Quantum LTO-8 Data Cartridge (SKU MR-L8MQN-01) is a certified LTO Ultrium media cartridge engineered for enterprise backup and long-term archival storage. It provides native 12 TB capacity (12 / 30 TB native / compressed) with media features aimed at durability, compliance and integration with automation.
This cartridge is part of Quantum's LTO Ultrium media family and is manufactured and tested to industry standards, with additional Quantum Certification to validate capacity, transfer rate, servo and green media characteristics.
Capacity
The LTO-8 cartridge offers 12 TB native capacity and 30 TB compressed capacity (based on 2.5:1 compression), delivering dense offline storage for backups and archives.
Data Integrity & Certification
Quantum performs additional process and quality tests under its Certification program to validate durability of written data and key user metrics including capacity and transfer rate.
WORM And Security
WORM (Write Once, Read Many) media cartridges are available to address regulatory and compliance needs; when used with LTO-8 capable drives, WORM can be combined with native AES 256-bit encryption on supported drives to prevent overwrites or tampering of written data.
Built-In Memory Chip
A high-durability non-contact IC memory chip up to 16 KB is built into the cartridge to improve tape library access and health reporting.
Environmental And Archival Life
The cartridge is designed for long-term archive with up to 30 years of archival life when stored in the recommended environmental envelope and handled according to vendor guidance.
Dimensions And Physical
Tape width is 12.65 mm (0.50 in) and cartridge dimensions are 21.5 mm x 105.4 mm x 102.0 mm (0.85 in x 4.15 in x 4.02 in), matching Ultrium form-factor standards for automated libraries.
Operational And Shipping Ranges
Recommended operating/storage dry-bulb temperature is 16 to 25° C (61 to 77° F) with relative humidity 20 to 50% (non-condensing); allowable operational ranges and shipping tolerances are provided for short-term storage and transit.
Compatibility And Management
Quantum LTO Ultrium media is compatible with industry media integrity analysis utilities and can be used with Quantum tape drives and Scalar tape libraries; Quantum also offers value-added services such as barcode labeling and library packaging to simplify deployment.
