The Areca ARC-1886-4X12I is a PCIe Gen 4.0 tri-mode RAID adapter configured with 12 internal and 4 external ports for mixed SAS/SATA and NVMe storage.
It features a Tri-Mode Dual Core ARM A15 1.6GHz ROC, 8GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM with ECC protection and an 8-lane PCI Express® 4.0 host interface.
The adapter supports up to 32 NVMe drives through PCIe switches and up to 512 SAS/SATA drives using 12Gb/s SAS expanders.

Areca ARC-1886-4X12I Product Overview
The Areca ARC-1886-4X12I is a PCIe Gen 4.0 tri-mode RAID adapter configured with 12 internal and 4 external drive ports for mixed SAS/SATA and NVMe deployments.
It combines a dual-core ROC processor, on-board ECC cache and broad management and OS support to address demanding database and enterprise storage use cases.
Performance And Controller
The adapter uses a Tri-Mode Dual Core ARM A15 1.6GHz ROC and presents a Host Bus Interface of 8-Lane PCI Express® 4.0 to the system.
Cache And Backup
On-board cache is 8GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM with ECC protection and the adapter supports the optional ARC-1886-CBM cache backup module for SuperCap-based protection.

The ARC-1886-4X12I offers 12 internal and 4 external ports with drive connectors consisting of 2 x SFF-8654 [x8] and 1 x SFF-8644 [x4].
Drive Support
The adapter supports up to 512 12Gb/s SAS or 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s SAS/SATA HDDs/SSDs using 12Gb/s SAS expanders and up to 32 NVMe drives through the PCIe switches.
Tri-Mode And Data Rates
Each drive port supports tri-mode operation with data transfer rates up to 12Gb/s SAS/SATA or Gen 4.0 PCIe (NVMe) per port.
RAID Features
Supported RAID levels include 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 30, 50, 60, single disk and JBOD. Additional features include RAID 1 multi-mirroring, mirrored pass-through disk, configurable stripe sizes up to 1MB, write-through or write-back cache, online RAID level/stripe size migration, online capacity expansion and support for global and dedicated hot spares.
Management And OS Support
Management is available via McRAID Storage Manager (web-based GUI), McRAID Utility, command-line tools, CIM provider for VMware and McBIOS configuration utility. Host Interface options include NVMe Mode with OS-native NVMe driver and Areca Legacy Mode supporting Microsoft Windows, Red Hat/CentOS, SUSE, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, FreeBSD, XenServer, unRAID, macOS and VMware ESXi.

Physical options include Low Profile and full-height mounting dimensions and the adapter consumes approximately 14 Watts. It operates from 0 °C to 60 °C at 10% to 85% non-condensing humidity.

The adapter provides redundant flash image for availability, supports UBM/SES-2/SGPIO enclosure management, and includes features such as S.M.A.R.T., automatic drive insertion/removal detection and rebuilding, and controller-based hardware encryption with SED support.

Areca Technology Delivery Information
In general, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on Areca equipment orders placed before 2pm (subject to stock availability).
We kindly advise you let us preconfigure each Areca RAID (as RAID5, RAID6 etc), so they arrive properly setup, ready to “plug’n’play”.
This is a free service, and takes 1-2 days prior to shipping.
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
Orders placed after 2pm on Fridays and on weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
