Each LTO-9 cartridge provides 18TB native / up to 45TB compressed capacity at the standard 2.5:1 compression assumption, with up to 300MB/s native throughput per fitted drive. The SymplyCABLELESS™ chassis has an available second drive position for a separately purchased compatible half-height upgrade.

The SymplyPRO Rackmount 1U LTO-9 HH Thunderbolt 3 / SAS Tape Drive is a professional half-height LTO-9 tape archive system. This exact SKU contains one fitted LTO-9 drive in a two-position 1U chassis, designed for a Thunderbolt workstation or compatible SAS host; the second internal drive position is not populated.
Two Thunderbolt 3 ports support compatible workstations and daisy-chaining. Separate SFF-8644 SAS host and expansion ports support appropriate SAS workflows. This is a Thunderbolt/SAS configuration, not a network-attached iSCSI tape appliance.
One compatible LTO-9 cartridge stores 18TB natively, or up to 45TB when data permits the standard 2.5:1 compression ratio. Native throughput is up to 300MB/s per fitted drive. LTO-9 and LTO-8 cartridges read/write; LTO-7 media is not supported. Treat compression as data-dependent rather than guaranteed.
The 1U metal chassis includes two half-height drive positions, internal 350W power and front-to-back rack cooling. The SymplyCABLELESS™ architecture permits a separately purchased compatible second half-height LTO mechanism to be installed, simplifying servicing and capacity planning.
Suitable LTFS workflows, compatible WORM cartridges and LTO hardware encryption provide options for removable archive retention, backup and cyber-resilient offline storage. Verify software, host platform, interface and media compatibility for your specific workflow.
Symply's published 1U Thunderbolt 3 / SAS family includes rackmount accessories, a data and cleaning cartridge, applicable host cabling and a three-year manufacturer warranty.
