LaCie Rugged SSD Pro – 1TB

The LaCie Rugged SSD Pro - 1TB (STHZ1000800) is a professional portable solid-state drive built around a Seagate FireCuda NVMe SSD and a Thunderbolt 3 interface. It is intended for filmmakers, DITs, editors and photographers who need high-speed scratch storage that can travel with a production kit.

This 1TB model uses the same current Rugged SSD Pro platform as the other capacities in the family, with LaCie's published family performance of up to 2,800MB/s. Actual throughput varies with host system, selected interface, workload, operating environment and capacity.

Up To 2,800MB/s NVMe Performance

LaCie specifies NVMe-boosted transfer performance of up to 2,800MB/s for file transfer and rendering workloads. That level of performance is intended for high-resolution media tasks such as 6K and 8K source playback, rapid ingest and editing directly from portable storage.

Thunderbolt 3 And USB-C Compatibility

The drive uses a USB-C physical connection with Thunderbolt 3 providing up to 40Gb/s link bandwidth. LaCie's current specification also lists compatibility with Thunderbolt 4, USB4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C hosts, subject to host hardware, operating system and interface limitations.

FireCuda NVMe SSD Architecture

A Seagate FireCuda NVMe SSD provides the high-performance flash storage inside the Rugged SSD Pro. The single-drive design avoids RAID configuration complexity while keeping the unit small enough for mobile creative workflows.

IP67 Rugged Protection

The enclosure is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance and is specified to tolerate drops from up to 3 metres. LaCie also rates the product to remain functional after a test approximating the pressure of a two-tonne vehicle, although cosmetic damage may occur.

Compact, Bus-Powered Design

The Rugged SSD Pro measures approximately 97.9 × 64.9 × 17mm and weighs around 0.1kg. Power is supplied through the host connection, so no external power adapter is required for normal operation.

Mac, Windows And iPad Workflows

LaCie lists compatibility with current supported Windows and macOS systems and USB-C iPad workflows, subject to operating-system and hardware support. The supplied drive is designed for cross-platform portable use; reformatting may be required for Time Machine or other workflow-specific file systems.

Five-Year Warranty And Rescue Services

The Rugged SSD Pro carries a five-year limited warranty and includes Rescue Data Recovery Services, subject to Seagate terms and regional availability. The current package also includes a Thunderbolt 3 cable, Quick Install Guide and an Adobe Creative Cloud Pro All Apps trial where available.
