The Areca ARC-1203-8i is an eight-port internal hardware RAID adapter for SATA HDDs and SSDs, combining a PCIe 2.0 x4 host interface with eight 6Gb/s SATA channels through two internal SFF-8087 connectors.
A dedicated 1066 MHz storage I/O processor and 1GB DDR3-1066 ECC cache handle RAID processing independently of the host CPU. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 1E, 10, 3, 5, 6, 30, 50, 60, JBOD and Single Disk modes.
SGPIO and serial-bus enclosure management, online RAID migration and expansion, SMART monitoring and optional battery-backed cache protection make it suitable for workstations, servers and storage systems requiring up to eight internal SATA drives.

Areca ARC-1203-8i Product Overview
The Areca ARC-1203-8i is a low-profile eight-port internal SATA hardware RAID controller designed for systems requiring dedicated RAID processing, flexible storage management and support for up to eight SATA HDDs or SSDs.
It connects to the host through PCIe 2.0 x4 and provides eight 6Gb/s SATA channels through two internal SFF-8087 connectors. A dedicated 1066 MHz storage I/O processor and 1GB DDR3-1066 ECC-protected cache offload RAID processing from the host CPU.
Eight-Port SATA Connectivity
The ARC-1203-8i supports up to eight SATA HDDs or SSDs through two internal SFF-8087 connectors, with transfer rates of up to 6Gb/s per drive port. Native 4K and 512-byte sector SATA devices are supported.
Hardware RAID Processing
The controller supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 1E, RAID 10, RAID 3, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 30, RAID 50, RAID 60, JBOD and Single Disk configurations. Hardware RAID processing is performed by the dedicated storage processor with ECC-protected cache.
Online RAID Management
Storage-management features include online array roaming, RAID-level and stripe-size migration, online capacity expansion, simultaneous capacity and RAID-level migration, volume-set growth, configurable stripe sizes up to 1MB, global and dedicated hot spares, automatic drive detection and rebuilding, and background initialization.
Drive Monitoring And Data Protection
The ARC-1203-8i supports SMART monitoring, self-encrypting drive management, scheduled volume checking, SSD automatic monitor cloning and HDD firmware updates. SGPIO and serial-bus enclosure management are available for compatible chassis and backplanes.
Cache Protection And Management
Write-through and write-back cache modes are supported with configurable read/write cache allocation. An optional Areca battery backup module can preserve unwritten cache data during a power interruption.
Configuration and monitoring options include McBIOS, browser-based McRAID Storage Manager, command-line tools and ArcSAP, with SMTP and SNMP notification support.

Areca Technology Delivery Information
In general, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on Areca equipment orders placed before 2pm (subject to stock availability).
We kindly advise you let us preconfigure each Areca RAID (as RAID5, RAID6 etc), so they arrive properly setup, ready to “plug’n’play”.
This is a free service, and takes 1-2 days prior to shipping.
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
Orders placed after 2pm on Fridays and on weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
