The SymplyPRO 1U – LTO-8 is a professional dual-bay rackmount tape system supplied with one half-height LTO-8 drive and a choice of SAS, Thunderbolt 3 / SAS or dual 10GbE iSCSI connectivity. Its 1RU all-metal chassis uses SymplyCABLELESS™ technology for straightforward servicing and future drive expansion.
Each LTO-8 drive provides 12TB native / 30TB compressed capacity per cartridge with native transfer performance up to 300MB/s. LTFS, WORM and AES-256 hardware encryption support make it suitable for secure long-term archive, backup and offline data-protection workflows.
The SymplyPRO 1U – LTO-8 provides a compact professional tape platform for rack-based backup and archive workflows. One half-height LTO-8 drive is fitted as standard, while the dual-bay enclosure allows a second compatible drive to be added later as requirements grow.
Three selectable interface configurations allow the same LTO-8 platform to serve direct-attached SAS systems, Thunderbolt workstations or network-attached iSCSI environments.
The 6Gb SAS configuration connects through SFF-8088. The Thunderbolt configuration provides dual Thunderbolt 3 ports together with 12Gb SAS host and expansion connectivity through SFF-8644. The Ethernet configuration provides dual 10GbE SFP+ iSCSI connectivity and SFF-8644 SAS expansion support.
Each LTO-8 half-height drive supports 12TB native capacity per cartridge, or 30TB compressed using the standard 2.5:1 assumption, with native transfer performance up to 300MB/s. Native values should be used for planning because actual compression varies with file type and workflow.
The 1U chassis contains two internal half-height drive positions. SymplyCABLELESS™ removes conventional internal drive cabling so the fitted mechanism can be serviced quickly and a compatible second drive can be installed using a Symply drive upgrade module.
LTFS provides file-based access to tape media, while WORM support and AES-256 hardware encryption add options for immutable retention, compliance and secure offline archives.
The all-metal chassis measures approximately 43.5 × 48.2 × 4.4cm and incorporates an internal 350W auto-ranging PSU and efficient cooling. A rack kit, LTO data cartridge, cleaning cartridge, power cable and the relevant host-interface cabling are supplied according to configuration.
SymplyPRO rackmount systems support professional macOS, Windows and Linux tape workflows and work with LTFS and established archive/backup platforms. The system carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty.

Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Symply Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
