The Sonnet M.2 8x4 Silent Gen4 PCIe Card is a full-length, full-height PCIe storage card that mounts up to eight M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs in a single x16 slot.
Eight M.2 NVMe SSD Slots
The card supports single-sided and double-sided M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe SSDs, including compatible Gen4 and Gen3 devices. With eight 8TB SSDs installed, raw capacity can reach 64TB.
PCIe 4.0 x16 Architecture
A PCI Express 4.0 x16 host interface and 48-lane PCIe 4.0 switch make full x16 slot bandwidth available across the installed x4-connected SSDs. PCIe bifurcation is not required.
Up To 30,000MB/s Read
In a PCIe 4.0 x16 host, Sonnet specifies up to 30,000MB/s read and 18,000MB/s write with four suitable SSDs configured as RAID 0. In a PCIe 3.0 x16 host, four-drive RAID 0 performance is specified up to 14,000MB/s read and 12,000MB/s write. Actual performance varies with SSDs, host architecture and workload.
Thunderbolt Expansion Compatibility
The card can also be installed in compatible Sonnet Thunderbolt expansion systems with a full-length x16 PCIe slot. Sonnet currently specifies maximum Thunderbolt performance up to 2800MB/s.
Silent Cooling
Sonnet uses a passive thermal design to sustain SSD performance without an onboard cooling fan. SSD health monitoring is supported through S.M.A.R.T. data reporting.
RAID And Boot Support
RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 are supported according to operating system and software capability; RAID 5 on macOS requires third-party software such as SoftRAID. Booting from a single non-RAIDed SSD is supported on compatible systems.
Auxiliary Power For Seven Or Eight SSDs
When seven or eight SSDs are installed, Sonnet requires the included 6-pin PCIe auxiliary power connection. Auxiliary power is optional with up to six SSDs installed.

Sonnet Technology Delivery Information
Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Sonnet Technology Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between 9 am and 6 pm.
Orders placed after 2 pm on Fridays and weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
