Sonnet Echo 21 Thunderbolt 5 SuperDock

The Sonnet Echo 21 Thunderbolt 5 SuperDock is a comprehensive Thunderbolt 5 docking and expansion system for professional Mac, Windows, Chromebook and iPad Pro workflows. A single host connection provides access to Thunderbolt peripherals, high-speed USB devices, 10Gb Ethernet, displays, internal NVMe storage, memory cards and audio devices while supplying up to 140W of charging power to a compatible laptop.

The dock provides 21 interfaces in total and combines three Thunderbolt 5 ports, nine 10Gbps USB ports, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, 10GBASE-T networking, UHS-II SD and microSD readers, multiple audio connections and an internal M.2 NVMe SSD slot.

Thunderbolt 5 Performance

The Thunderbolt 5 interface supports 80Gbps bidirectional data bandwidth and up to 120Gbps display bandwidth. One Thunderbolt 5 port connects to the host computer, while two downstream ports accommodate Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4 and compatible USB devices and displays.

Internal M.2 NVMe SSD Expansion

An internal M.2 NVMe slot connects through PCIe 4.0 x2 and accepts a user-installed SSD without a heatsink. Sonnet supports capacities up to 8TB and quotes transfer performance up to approximately 3400MB/s under suitable conditions. The SSD is sold separately.

Integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet

The RJ45 network port supports 10GBASE-T as well as 5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T, 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-TX. 10GbE operation supports distances up to 100 metres with Cat 6A cabling or 55 metres with Cat 6, while AVB support is available under macOS.

Nine 10Gbps USB Ports

Four USB-A and five USB-C ports provide USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity at up to 10Gbps. Four USB-C ports supply up to 7.5W each, while the dedicated front USB-C charging port supplies up to 15W. The USB-C ports support simultaneous data transfer and device charging.

HDMI And DisplayPort Outputs

Dedicated HDMI and DisplayPort connections allow compatible displays to be attached without adapters. The HDMI output supports up to 8K 60Hz on compatible Windows systems and up to 4K 60Hz under macOS, while the DisplayPort output supports up to 4K 144Hz. Overall display capabilities depend on the connected computer, operating system and graphics hardware.

140W Laptop Power Delivery

The host Thunderbolt 5 connection provides up to 140W Power Delivery, allowing compatible laptops to charge through the same cable used for data and peripheral connectivity.

UHS-II SD And microSD Readers

Integrated UHS-II readers support SD, SDHC and SDXC cards plus microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC media. Sonnet quotes read performance up to 320MB/s with suitable UHS-II media.

Professional Audio Connectivity

Audio connections include a front 3.5mm combination headphone and microphone jack, a separate rear microphone input and left/right RCA line-level outputs, providing flexible connectivity for headphones, microphones, powered speakers, amplifiers and audio equipment.

ThunderLok And Physical Security

The supplied 0.8-metre Thunderbolt 5 cable can be secured to the dock using the included ThunderLok-A connector lock to reduce accidental disconnections. A Kensington security slot supports Standard, MicroSaver and MicroSaver 2 locks.
