Glyph Atom EX20 – 1TB

The Glyph Atom EX20 1TB is the 20Gbps member of Glyph's high-intensity Atom EX portable SSD range, combining NVMe storage, rugged construction and a thermally efficient aluminium enclosure in a compact bus-powered design.

It is aimed at creators who need fast media ingest, portable project storage and direct-from-drive workflows without moving to the higher-bandwidth USB4 interfaces used by the EX40 and EX80.

Up To 2,100MB/s Over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2

The EX20 uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C interface with up to 20Gbps link bandwidth. Glyph specifies transfer speeds up to 2,100MB/s when connected to a compatible USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port, making it well suited to 4K editing, high-resolution photo libraries, media delivery and rapid card-offload workflows.

Host Interface Matters

The drive is backward compatible with USB 3.1, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 3/4/5 hosts, but the connection does not always operate at 20Gbps. Glyph's current compatibility table specifies up to 1,050MB/s on Apple Silicon Macs using Thunderbolt 3/4 or Thunderbolt 5, on USB4 40Gbps PCs, on Intel Mac/PC Thunderbolt 3 ports, and on ordinary 10Gbps USB-C hosts. The full 2,100MB/s figure therefore requires a host that supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2.

Thermal Design For Sustained Creative Work

A solid aluminium core and outer shell conduct heat away from the SSD, increasing the thermal ceiling without a fan. The passive design is intended to provide more consistent performance during long transfers and sustained production workloads while keeping operation quiet.

Rugged, Travel-Ready Construction

The aluminium exo-skeleton is paired with a soft composite bumper and is rated to MIL-Standard 810F for shock, vibration and dust resistance. That makes the EX20 practical for mobile production, travel and location work where storage is regularly transported between systems.

Real-Time Integrated Health Monitoring

Glyph includes real-time integrated health monitoring as part of the EX20 design, providing additional visibility into drive condition for users relying on the SSD for active project storage and production work.

Bus-Powered USB-C Workflow

The EX20 draws its operating power from the host connection, so no external power supply is required. Its compact 2.2 x 4.0 x 0.6-inch drive dimensions and short 15cm USB Type-C to Type-C cable make it easy to integrate with laptops and portable workstations.

Mac And Windows Compatibility

The drive is supplied formatted for macOS and can be reformatted for Windows. Actual transfer performance depends on the host interface, operating system, workload and other system factors.

Professional 3-2-1 Warranty

Glyph backs the Atom EX20 with its 3-2-1 warranty: three years of full hardware coverage, two years of Level-1 data recovery and one year of advance replacement. Glyph also states that the Atom EX range is designed, tested and assembled in the USA.
