The adapter pairs a Tri-Mode Dual Core ARM A15 1.6GHz ROC with an x8 PCIe Gen 4.0 host interface to deliver a compact, hardware-managed RAID solution.
The Areca ARC-1686-6NOD has a form factor of 107.2(H) x 262(L) mm and provides 6 x M.2 Connector bays.
Host connectivity is via an x8 PCIe Gen 4.0 host interface and each M.2 bay supports Gen 4.0 PCIe (NVMe) or 6Gb/s SATA with a tri-mode 12Gb/s SAS/SATA / Gen 4.0 PCIe interface per bay.
The adapter is driven by a Tri-Mode Dual Core ARM A15 1.6GHz ROC to handle RAID parity, mirroring and management tasks onboard.
Supported RAID levels are 0, 1 (Simple/Multi Mirroring), 10, Single Disk (Single/Dual/Triple) and JBOD, providing flexible options for performance and redundancy.
Operating voltage is 12V and power consumption is approximately 12/14 Watts (without M.2 drive); the board includes an on-board hold-up supercapacitor to support off module power loss protection for Non PLP NVMe drives.
The adapter supports individual NVMe PowerDisable (PWRDIS) to electrically power-cycle a single NVMe drive and includes a redundant flash image for adapter availability.
SED support enables hardware NVMe encryption capable drives to automatically encrypt data on-drive to protect against unauthorized access or repurposing.
Management is available In-Band over PCIe using an ArcHTTP proxy, with a firmware-based McRAID web browser manager and the ArcSAP quick manager; supported operating systems include Windows, Linux (open source), FreeBSD (open source) and Mac.

In general, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on Areca equipment orders placed before 2pm (subject to stock availability).
We kindly advise you let us preconfigure each Areca RAID (as RAID5, RAID6 etc), so they arrive properly setup, ready to “plug’n’play”.
This is a free service, and takes 1-2 days prior to shipping.
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
Orders placed after 2pm on Fridays and on weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
