SymplyTRANSPORTER brings S3 object storage to productions, remote facilities and other locations where data needs to be protected before being transferred to a central repository. This 80TB raw-capacity, eight-bay desktop appliance has an integrated carry handle, so it can be deployed at an edge location, used as a local object store and then transported securely back to a main facility.
Unlike a conventional portable disk, TRANSPORTER is designed around managed object storage. It supports S3-compatible workflows as well as HTTP, NFS v4.1 and a RESTful API. Pre-configured domains and buckets simplify initial deployment, while management tools provide user access, operational monitoring and cluster control. Symply describes a push-button workflow for importing content from TRANSPORTER into a central S3 environment such as SymplyAURA, followed by administrator-controlled sanitisation before redeployment.
Security is central to its role as an archive and backup target. Symply specifies encryption both during transfer and at rest, object immutability (WORM), audit trails, and self-healing data-protection capabilities. The appliance also supports replication and tiering to S3-connected destinations, allowing it to participate in wider backup, disaster-recovery and content-movement strategies.
For demanding data-management workflows, compatible third-party applications including Archiware P5, StorageDNA DNAfabric and Tiger Technology Bridge are available as optional pre-installed software; these applications are not assumed to be included with this SKU. TRANSPORTER uses Symply's integrated Kubernetes-orchestrated object-storage platform with automatic software updates.
This configuration provides 80TB of raw storage, with 50TB erasure-coded capacity shown by Symply for the 4+2 protection configuration; actual usable space varies with the chosen protection and filesystem overheads.
