SymplyTRANSPORTER brings S3 object storage to productions, remote facilities and other locations where data needs to be protected before being transferred to a central repository. This 160TB raw-capacity, eight-bay desktop appliance has an integrated carry handle, so it can be deployed at an edge location, used as a local object store and then transported securely back to a main facility.
Unlike a conventional portable disk, TRANSPORTER is designed around managed object storage. It supports S3-compatible workflows as well as HTTP, NFS v4.1 and a RESTful API. Pre-configured domains and buckets simplify initial deployment, while management tools provide user access, operational monitoring and cluster control. Symply describes a push-button workflow for importing content from TRANSPORTER into a central S3 environment such as SymplyAURA, followed by administrator-controlled sanitisation before redeployment.
Security is central to its role as an archive and backup target.
