The Sonnet xMac mini Server Thunderbolt 3 Edition combines a Mac mini rackmount enclosure and Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion system in a single 1U chassis, allowing a compatible Mac mini and two PCIe cards to be integrated into a compact professional rack installation.
The system provides one x16 mechanical slot and one x8 mechanical slot, each connected electrically at PCIe 2.0 x4. This enables compatible full-length and half-length PCIe cards to connect to the Mac mini through Thunderbolt.
Two Thunderbolt 3 ports are provided on the expansion hardware, with one used for the Mac mini connection and the other available for supported Thunderbolt connectivity.
A universal 150W internal power supply powers the PCIe expansion hardware and installed compatible cards, eliminating the need for a separate external power brick.
The 1U steel chassis secures the Mac mini while providing convenient access to power controls and pass-through connections. Rear pass-throughs maintain useful access to Ethernet, USB and HDMI connections from the installed computer.
At 19 inches wide and 1U high, the xMac mini Server is designed for fixed installations, studios, mobile racks and machine-room environments where compact Mac mini integration and PCIe expansion are required.
