The Sonnet Allegro 7-Port USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A PCIe Card, part number USB3-7PM-E, is designed for systems that need a large number of conventional USB-A connections without occupying multiple PCIe slots.
It combines six externally accessible ports with one internal USB-A port, supporting storage, audio, control, input and other USB peripherals.
The card adds six external USB-A ports and one internal USB-A port. Each supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 operation at up to 5Gbps and maintains backwards compatibility with older USB devices.
Each port can provide up to 0.9A, approximately 5W, supporting many bus-powered flash drives, hard drives, SSDs and other compatible peripherals without a separate power adapter.
Resettable overcurrent protection is provided for each port, helping protect both the card and host computer if a faulty peripheral or cable causes a short circuit.
Three external ports have their own 5Gbps bandwidth paths. The remaining three external ports and the internal port share a 5Gbps path; a single device on that shared group can access the full available bandwidth.
The card uses a Fresco Logic FL1100EX USB controller and supports UASP on compatible operating systems for efficient storage transfers.
Sonnet specifies plug-and-play installation on supported Mac, Windows and Linux systems, with hot-pluggable and hot-swappable device connection support.
