The Areca ARC-1203-2N is a two-port hardware RAID adapter for M.2 NVMe SSDs, using a PCIe 2.0 x4 host interface with two PCIe 2.0 x1 NVMe device ports.

A dedicated 1066 MHz storage processor and 512 MB DDR3-1066 ECC cache provide hardware RAID processing independently of the host CPU. The adapter supports RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD and Single Disk configurations, including single or dual independent disks.

An integrated supercapacitor provides off-module power-loss protection support for non-PLP NVMe SSDs and can retain M.2 fault LED status for troubleshooting after a drive is removed.

Areca ARC-1203-2N Product Overview

The Areca ARC-1203-2N is a compact two-port M.2 NVMe hardware RAID adapter designed for desktops, workstations and entry-level servers requiring protected NVMe boot or application storage.

It combines a PCIe 2.0 x4 host connection with two PCIe 2.0 x1 M.2 NVMe ports, a dedicated 1066 MHz storage processor and 512 MB of DDR3-1066 ECC cache, allowing RAID processing and cache management to be handled by the adapter rather than the host CPU.


Two M.2 NVMe Drive Support

The ARC-1203-2N accepts up to two M.2 NVMe SSDs and supports both 2280 and 22110 drive form factors. Each installed SSD operates through a PCIe 2.0 x1 NVMe device interface.


Hardware RAID Protection

Supported storage modes include RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD and Single Disk operation. The controller also supports configurable stripe sizes up to 1 MB, array roaming, RAID-level and stripe-size migration, capacity expansion, SED management and SMART monitoring.


ECC Cache And Power-Loss Protection

A 1066 MHz storage processor is paired with 512 MB of DDR3-1066 SDRAM with ECC protection. Write-through and write-back cache modes are supported, together with configurable read/write cache allocation policies.

The integrated supercapacitor supports off-module power-loss protection for non-PLP NVMe SSDs and can maintain M.2 fault LED status after removal to assist troubleshooting.


Native NVMe And Legacy Host Modes

The adapter can operate with native operating-system NVMe drivers, reducing the requirement for a dedicated host driver in supported configurations. Areca legacy driver operation is also supported for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and macOS environments.


RAID Management

Configuration and monitoring options include the browser-based McRAID Storage Manager, McBIOS configuration utility, command-line management and Areca ArcSAP. Monitoring capabilities include M.2 fault indication, alarm buzzer, SMTP and SNMP support.

Areca Technology Delivery Information

In general, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on Areca equipment orders placed before 2pm (subject to stock availability).

We kindly advise you let us preconfigure each Areca RAID (as RAID5, RAID6 etc), so they arrive properly setup, ready to “plug’n’play”.

This is a free service, and takes 1-2 days prior to shipping.

Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between the hours of 9am and 6pm.

Orders placed after 2pm on Fridays and on weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.

Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
