Areca ARC-1886-8I is a PCIe Gen 4.0 Tri‑Mode RAID adapter with eight internal ports and tri-mode support for SAS, SATA and NVMe drives.
It includes an ARM A15 dual-core ROC and 8GB on-board DDR4-2666 SDRAM with ECC protection for enterprise RAID workloads.
The card supports up to 512 SAS/SATA drives via expanders and up to 32 NVMe drives through PCIe switches.

Areca ARC-1886-8I Product Overview
Areca ARC-1886-8I is a PCIe Gen 4.0 Tri‑Mode RAID adapter engineered for mixed SAS/SATA and NVMe storage deployments.
It pairs an ARM A15 dual-core RAID-on-Chip with 8GB on-board cache and a full set of enterprise RAID and management features to support dense server and storage backplane configurations.
Physical And Connectors
Low profile dimensions are 167.65(L) x 64.4(H) mm and the card provides 8 x internal and 8 x external ports using 1 x SFF-8654 [x8] and 2 x SFF-8644 [x4] drive connectors.
Host Interface And Processor
Host connectivity is via an 8-Lane PCI Express® 4.0 slot and RAID processing is handled by a Tri-Mode Dual Core ARM A15 1.6GHz ROC.
Cache And Cache Protection
The adapter ships with 8GB on-board DDR4-2666 SDRAM with ECC Protection and supports an optional cache backup module (ARC-1886-CBM) for SuperCap-protected cache preservation.
Data Transfer And Drive Support
Data transfer is up to 12Gb/s SAS/SATA/Gen 4.0 PCIe (NVMe) per port and the controller supports up to 512 12Gb/s SAS or 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s SAS/SATA HDDs/SSDs using 12Gb/s SAS expanders and up to 32 NVMe drives through PCIe switches.

Controller-level hardware encryption and self-encryption drive (SED) management are supported, and the adapter also supports SAS tape devices and transport layer retries (TLR) for error handling.
Management, Monitoring And Utilities
Management options include McRAID Storage Manager (web GUI), McRAID Utility, a command-line interface, API code support, CIM provider for VMware, McBIOS Configuration Utility, legacy configuration utility, flashable BIOS support and a firmware-built EFI Shell to launch configuration utilities.

Areca Technology Delivery Information
In general, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on Areca equipment orders placed before 2pm (subject to stock availability).
We kindly advise you let us preconfigure each Areca RAID (as RAID5, RAID6 etc), so they arrive properly setup, ready to “plug’n’play”.
This is a free service, and takes 1-2 days prior to shipping.
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
Orders placed after 2pm on Fridays and on weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
