The SymplySPARK 8-Bay – 240TB is an 8-bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID designed for media professionals who need high-capacity, reliable direct-attached storage. It pairs enterprise-class hard drives with a compact, serviceable chassis tuned for studio and on-set workflows.
Built for consistent throughput and low latency, the unit targets creative workflows such as post-production, VFX, editing and on-set DIT work where capacity, uptime and quiet operation matter.
The SPARK 8-Bay delivers sustained real-world throughput in the range of 900-1300MB/s via dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, providing the bandwidth required for multi-stream video editing and fast file ingest.
This SKU ships configured for 240TB of storage using enterprise-class hard drives and hot-swap drive caddies secured with locking pins and thumbscrews to protect media during use and transport.
The chassis is engineered for field serviceability: drives, fans and the power supply can be replaced quickly without returning the unit, and an optional SymplySAM self-assisted maintenance kit is available for guided on-site servicing.
Two Thunderbolt 3 ports provide host connectivity, daisy-chaining and device charging. A premium 2m (6.5ft) Active Thunderbolt 3 cable is included, along with SymplyLOCK cable locking and a Kensington lock point.
Mounting and transport are flexible: a purpose-designed 4RU SPARK Rack Kit (8 Bay only) is available for rack installations, and an optional impact-resistant wheeled transport case simplifies on-set movement.
Designed for desktop and studio use, the SPARK 8-Bay operates at < 40dB and supports an operating environment of 0°C – 40°C and 5% – 85% humidity (non-condensing).
Onboard RAID configuration supports common media-friendly RAID levels and fast RAID 5/6 protection to reduce the risk of content loss while keeping systems online during rebuilds.

Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard Symply Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
