OWC Mercury Helios 5S is an external Thunderbolt expansion enclosure designed to bring a full-size PCIe 4.0 x4 slot to laptops and small form factor desktops via a single Thunderbolt or USB4 connection.
The enclosure combines high bandwidth, tool-free card installation and a compact aircraft-grade aluminium chassis with additional Thunderbolt 5 ports to extend connectivity for professional workflows.
Mercury Helios 5S provides up to 6000MB/s bandwidth available for simultaneous read/write, enabling modern PCIe 4.0 cards to operate at full speed for demanding tasks such as 8K video capture and high-speed networking.
The unit features (1) PCIe 4.0 x4 (x16 mechanical slot) that accepts half-length, full-height, single or double-width cards, including those with daughter boards.
The enclosure supports pro-level cards from brands commonly used in audio, video and networking workflows and accepts a broad range of card types; cards that require a minimum of x8 PCIe lanes or more than 75W are not supported, and GPUs are not supported.
Three Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) ports provide 80Gb/s throughput each and 15W power delivery each, allowing daisy-chaining of high-performance drives and displays while the single host connection provides PCIe access to the fitted card.
Captive thumb screws enable tool-free card installs and swaps, and the mesh panel is removable to accommodate double-width cards or cards with daughter boards.
OWC Mercury Helios 5S uses an aircraft grade aluminum housing and a high-efficiency, adjustable speed cooling fan to keep the enclosure cool with nearly silent operation.
The product includes a certified 0.7M OWC Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) Cable, a power cord retainer, and features auto power on/off with the computer.
Use with Thunderbolt 5/4, USB4 Macs and PCs, and Thunderbolt 3 Macs for broad generational compatibility across current and recent host systems.

Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard OWC Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between 9 am and 6 pm.
Orders placed after 2 pm on Fridays and weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
