The LaCie 2big RAID 28TB (SKU STHJ28000800) is a two-bay professional desktop RAID designed for creative workflows, project storage, backup and archive. This 28TB configuration is fitted with two 14TB IronWolf Pro enterprise-class drives operating at 7,200 RPM.
LaCie combines hardware RAID with USB-C connectivity, hot-swappable drive trays and its RAID management software to provide a compact storage platform that can be configured for speed, redundancy or independent disks.
Performance And Connectivity
The 2big RAID connects through USB 3.2 Gen 2 using USB-C, with an interface bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s. LaCie specifies transfer speeds of up to 550 MB/s, supporting large-file transfers and high-resolution photo and video workflows. The current specification lists compatibility with USB-C hosts including USB 40 Gb/s, USB 20 Gb/s, USB 10 Gb/s and USB 5 Gb/s connections, plus Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 hosts.
RAID 0, RAID 1 And JBOD
The enclosure supports RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD. RAID 0 uses the full capacity of both drives for maximum performance and is the factory-default RAID mode. RAID 1 mirrors data between the two drives for redundancy, reducing usable capacity by half. JBOD presents the two installed drives as independent disks rather than combining them into an array.
IronWolf Pro Drives And Hot-Swap Serviceability
Two 14TB IronWolf Pro enterprise-class drives provide the 28TB raw capacity. LaCie specifies 7,200 RPM performance and positions these drives for demanding RAID workloads. The drive trays are hot-swappable, so a drive can be removed and replaced without shutting down the enclosure when service is required.
Management, Backup And Recovery
LaCie Toolkit can assist with initial setup and backup workflows, while LaCie RAID Manager provides advanced RAID configuration plus drive and system health monitoring. The product is backed by a five-year limited warranty and five-year Rescue Data Recovery Services, subject to the manufacturer’s service terms and regional availability.

LaCie Delivery Information
Generally, next working day delivery services (UK Mainland) are available on standard LaCie Delivery orders placed before 2 pm (subject to stock availability).
Non-timed deliveries should be delivered between 9 am and 6 pm.
Orders placed after 2 pm on Fridays and weekends will be processed as normal the following Monday.
Orders placed on Bank Holidays will be processed the next working day.
