The ARC-8050T5U-6MN is designed as a compact, high-performance desktop RAID enclosure for professional media and archive workflows. It combines dual Thunderbolt 5 host ports with a full-size DisplayPort 2.1 output, a Raid-on-Chip (ROC) hardware RAID controller and on-board SDRAM cache with ECC protection to deliver sustained throughput and lower host CPU load during RAID operations and rebuilds.

Drive bays accept NVMe x1 (U.2/U.3), SAS or SATA devices, giving flexibility to mix media-class SSDs and high-capacity HDDs within a single enclosure. Management options include the front LCD, in-band Thunderbolt management and out-of-band Ethernet, allowing technicians to configure and monitor the unit without interrupting host systems.

Connectivity And Video Output

Two Thunderbolt 5 ports provide high-bandwidth host connectivity and daisy-chaining for additional peripherals, while the rear full-size DisplayPort 2.1 MF enables direct connection of high-resolution displays. The Thunderbolt port also supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 compatibility when connected to a USB-C computer port. A 1m active Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) cable is included.

Performance And Controller Design

A dedicated Raid-on-Chip (ROC) controller implements true hardware RAID so parity calculations and rebuilds do not consume host CPU cycles. Large on-board SDRAM cache with ECC protection can be allocated between read and write caching to tune behaviour for read- or write‑heavy applications, helping to smooth multi‑stream 4K/6K workflows.

Security And Encryption

Controller-based hardware encryption operates independently of the host to protect data without impacting performance. The unit supports AES keys and password options and works with self-encrypting drives (SEDs) for continuous, drive-level protection during theft, servicing or decommissioning.

Expandability And Field Power

The 6MN model includes a 4-pin XLR DC input for +11.5 ~ 15.5V DC, allowing operation from battery solutions or an AC adapter in field conditions while also providing notebook charging capability. SAS expansion support is provided for larger deployments using 12G SAS expanders where applicable.

Management And Reliability

Front-panel LCD and push-button controls provide quick local configuration and status checks. Remote management is available via the in-band Thunderbolt path or out-of-band RJ‑45 Ethernet for maintenance without disturbing host access. The enclosure also features intelligent power On/Off controls to coordinate with host power states and protect data integrity.

Acoustics And Cooling

Adaptive fan control monitors environmental conditions and adjusts fan speed to minimise noise while maintaining thermal performance. The 6MN model uses a single 2700rpm fan and is rated with a whisper-quiet sound pressure level suitable for audio/video environments.
