OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dual 10GbE Network Dock Product Overview
The OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dual 10GbE Network Dock is an all-in-one Thunderbolt dock built for complex, multi-network environments where bandwidth and isolation matter as much as convenient day-to-day docking. Through one Thunderbolt 5 cable connection to a Thunderbolt equipped Mac or PC, it combines workstation expansion with high-speed network storage access and straightforward network segmentation.
With three fully independent Ethernet ports, multiple Thunderbolt 5 ports, and USB connectivity, it reduces reliance on separate adapters and daisy-chained hubs. This approach suits demanding IP-based workflows including audio production with Dante, routing 4K NDI video streams for broadcast, outputting large high-res files to NAS storage, and administering virtual machines.
Three Independent Networks From One Dock
Three independent Network Interface Cards (NICs) enable easier network isolation without shared bandwidth allocation or security risk between connections. One 10GbE port can be dedicated to NAS storage, the second 10GbE port to a dedicated AV network, and the front-facing 2.5GbE port to an office LAN or the internet, with each connection remaining uniquely addressable and independent.
High-Bandwidth NAS Access With Link Aggregation
For environments that support it, the dual 10GbE ports can be bonded with link aggregation. This allows access to a NAS at up to 20Gb/s from a notebook computer, helping sustain heavy concurrent reads/writes for tasks such as large media transfers and editing directly from network storage.
Device Expansion And Flexible Daisy Chaining
Beyond networking, the dock supports extensive peripheral connectivity with Thunderbolt 5 and USB ports, reducing the need for separate hubs. It can also create three separate daisy chains of devices – even bus powered – and devices can be removed from one chain without affecting the other chains.
Display Connectivity For Detailed Visual Work
For image- and video-intensive roles, the dock can enhance desk setup efficiency by supporting connections for up to three 8K displays.1 Display support depends on the host computer’s capability and configuration.
Certified Thunderbolt Connectivity And Safer Disconnects
OWC states its Thunderbolt connectivity solutions undergo rigorous development testing processes, including intensive mandatory Thunderbolt certification, to reliably deliver expected functionality with Thunderbolt and USB-C devices. OWC Dock Ejector is also supported to safely disconnect multiple drives in a single click by ensuring all data is written before disconnection.
Included Cable And Optional Cable Stabilisation
A certified 0.7M OWC Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) Cable is included for immediate deployment. For physical cable management in active workspaces, OWC ClingOn custom cable stabilizers (available separately) can be screwed into the dock housing to reduce – if not completely eliminate – cable strain on Thunderbolt and USB-C connections.
